Folks in Iowa (where I was born) say pop, most of the time; I'm in Texas now, and it's Coke. For every flavor. Folks up north in Minnesota (was there 12 years) mostly said soda, as I remember.
typical redneck hospitality:
"y'wanna coke?" "yeah, sure" "what kind?" "orange"

I say soda and I'm from NY. It bugs me when people call it "pop". I've got no idea where that originated from.

Pop is what we seem to call it here in Canada.
We even used to have a chain of stores where you could buy it called Pop Shop. It was like a bulk outlet for soft drinks.
