I don't feel that way today, but I certainly have in the past.

You look at your life the past year and wonder if this year will be any better. You wonder if your entire life will always be like this-sad and lonely.

Please remember that you can control your emotions. No one else can make you happy or sad-it is up to you how you will react to different situations.

Make a resolution this year that you will focus on helping yourself to be a happier person. Find something you can do for YOU that will be fun, interesting, or educational. Don't let your spouse ruin this-simply say that you are doing a special activity for yourself to keep your sanity.

A hobby or community service organization is a great place to start. By getting involved in something new and different you will have something new to occupy your thoughts. This should help you get over the "blues" you feel now.

Well I think New Year's Eve is a kind of sad and lonely time sometimes. I also am married, but am bored with some things in my marriage. New Year's Eve seems a distant memory when I used to go to parties and have lots of fun. Now it is just another day. But long term, I think it is ok not to feel the same as we used to about holidays. I just try and keep busy, and make it special here at home. Chicken wings, chili, cheese and crackers and a football game, and it's kind of homey. Sorry it was sad for you this year.

I had an awful New Yrs. I spent it in bed watching the ball drop in NYC. I'm going through a divorce and never thought I would be this lonely. Being married was bad, being separated is tough and waiting for the divorce to be final is expensive and sucks. I hope 2007 is better. Take care.

It sounds like you are missing some kind of emotional connection, or your spouse is physically gone.

To answer your question, yes I feel lonely and sad this New Years Day. My grandmother passed away yesterday, I am states away from my family, and my boyfriend is cross country with his family. It's just me and the cats!

Yes I do. I am thinking about splitting up with my husband. We dated for 10 years and have been married for 1. During that time he has cheated on me 3 times that I know of..and says the most foul things when he gets angry. I have reached crisis point. It`s a tough decision, and I wonder if I am making the right decision.
