Harajuku style clothing can be found anywhere in America. You just have to learn to layer the right things and buy at the right places. A couple a stores can be:

Mostly, I go to Korean and Chinese stores-- many japanese stores are very expensive-- and that's not excluding Korean and Chinese stores. Many places offer stores in asian areas such as Little Tokyo places like that where there is a large population of asians. It's because it is imported that it is so expensive. Ebay is a good choice... like I said, most stores can be your regular stores around America that sells a lot of Urban or retro. Most clothes are very similar to asian styles but most people in America [or wherever you live] don't layer to that extent or wear the same colors.

These three shops (linked in my sources) sell limited edition cute, funky clothing. Each designer is DIY and they come up with new stuff all the time.

Ebay.
Or if you don't mind offline shopping, try those cheap Asian stores that also do wholesale. They're nearly everywhere and you wouldn't believe what kinds of unique pieces you can find there!
