He's pitching in the AL East. The best era in the east last year was 3.51 by Mike Mussina who is familiar with the batters.
Matsuzaka's era will be at least 4.00. He will be facing much stronger and faster players than he did in Japan.
He could win between 10 and 13 games in the majors considering the most games he ever won in Japan was 17.
Asking this guy to win more game at the major level than he did in Japan is asking a lot.
He will get wins off of good run support that Sox will provide.

prob. ok people r making a big deal saying this guy is going 2 be amazing well i dont think so because look at buyn-hun kim when he came to american he was suposily 1 of the best pithcers but he never pitched in america when he came and played a whole season he didnt have a great year he was ok but then he went down from an ace pitcher to a 3rd or 4th starter in japan he was so amazing because there hitting was horrible in the world baseball classic they hitting percentage in japan's team was 2nd to last in the classic and usa's was 3rd so there you see he 's probalbly a one hit wonder

Well he will be nothing better then an average pitcher, he may have dominated the WBC but the best Major Leaguer he faced was Jorge Cantu, until he proves himself against real hitters my guess for his stats would be 11-10, 4.25-4.50 era, 150 k.

Lets just say, if he's not a 20 game winner, he isn't worth 50 Mill + 50 Mill just to associate with him.
And if he doesn't win 10 games... well, lets try not to think about that.

well unless he throws out a johan santana-esque campaign, hes going to be overpaid... but then again, who isn't these days? this guy can flat out pitch, he has an arsenal of "out" pitches. his ability to find success in AAAA (japan) was his ability to use all his pitches. i think he will do fine in boston, if he can adapt to the pressure, which is not easy. he will not be a beckett, since he doesnt only throw his fastball when hes in trouble. im gonna go out on a limb and say he goes 15-7 3.67era

Curt Schilling will teach him how to get respect with high hard inside fast ones. Daisuke will win 17 and be Rookie of the Year as the Sox win it again.

As a Yankee fan, this guy strikes some fear into me "he is that good". I would be concerned how he will hold up over a full MLB season, most Japanese pitchers have a six man rotation.
anyway 18-8 3.10era about a 1.2whip.
