I don't know if you'd call it an upset but the biggest collapse of the season was the Red Sox beating handed their collective heads in the five game series against the Yankees in Boston in August. After that series the Red Sox were toast!

As for 2007 I look for the Cubs and Phillies to be much better. I even think the Phillies could win the NL East.

Keep your eyes on any huge increase in the normally expected budget from any major league team. Accidents and incidents don't just happen. The front office is very important in any major sport.

The key to a good team is to spend the money for the individual players.

Like George Steinbrenner, the owner of the New York Yankees, the owners of the team must either put up or shut up. Who spends, wins!

I think Tigers surprised a lot of people who don't follow each and every trade and acquisition. But among the teams who didn't do so fantastic during the last season, the Giants are a stronger force with the gain of some pitching (Even with the loss of Schmidt).

I also believe the Cubs are going to get into good shape this season. They spent tons of cash since getting rid of Dusty Baker, so a lot of people are looking at them to see if they can finally get it together after a few embarrasing seasons.

And I will throw in Tamba Bay. Just because. Even if the world now hates their mascot.

Baltimore Orioles...they improved all their weeknesses of 2006 (shotty bullpen especially). Their pitching will dramatically improve (especially with Leo Mazzone as the pitching coach). They made a great deal this off season by signing Aubrey Huff (in his prime) to a steal contract (3 years 20 million vs what the Cubs are playing their players).

Tough to say. The Brewers have made some additions. The Cubs have added some players. I don't think either will win the division, but anything is possible. They may be better than last year anyway.

Milwaukee improved with Suppan and if Cleveland can add Mulder and Foulke they might also be a force in the AL Central.
KC and Tampa Bay are still screwed.

The Texas Rangers will surprise everyone by winning the AL West.

The Devil Rays will be better than expected.

Also, neither the Red Sox or the Yankees will make the playoffs since the Blue Jays will suprise the division and the wildcard will come from the central.

I think Arizona will turn some heads even if they don't make the post season, they have a good young pitching staff and some very good looking young prospects.
