Isadora Duncan or Twyla Tharp. Interesting people who led interesting lives. I think they both would make for great papers.

Arthur Mitchell. Arthur Mitchell (March 27, 1934 - ) is an African-American dancer and choreographer. He was born in New York City and attended the New York City High School of the Performing Arts, where he was the first male student to win the annual dance award. Mitchell went on to the School of American Ballet, and in 1955 joined the New York City Ballet, debuting in the fourth movement of George Balanchine's Western Symphony and becoming the first African-American male dancer to become a permanent member of a major ballet company. He became a principal dancer the following year. Remaining with the company for 15 years, Mitchell left in 1969 to co-found with Karel Shook the Dance Theatre of Harlem, the first black classical ballet company.
Mitchell danced in works include Agon, Afternoon of a Faun, and Ebony Concerto. As a choregrapher, his works include Rhythmetron (1968) and Ode to Otis (1969).
He is featured in the documentary Balanchine (2004).
On a personal note, Mr. Mitchell continues to give back to the community. He sponsors a residency study program in various areas around the country where he personally has motivated young dancers and provided principle dancers from his company as teachers. He's an amazing man and deserves more recognition than he gets.

Here is one older famous dancer:
http://www.fredastaire.com/fred-legend.html
Fred Astaire
After seven decades with dozens of different partners on the stage, screen, and television, Fred Astaire is world-famous as the heart and soul of dance. He was the epitome of class and elegance.
Fred Astaire, born in 1899, began show business at the age of 5, performing on Broadway and in vaudeville with his sister, Adele. Then he headed to Hollywood where he began a successful partnership with Ginger Rogers for nine movies. By 1976, he had made 33 musical films with esteemed co-stars such as Joan Crawford, Rita Hayworth, Ann Miller, Debbie Reynolds and Cyd Charisse. He also co-starred with the biggest actors of that time, including Bing Crosby, Red Skelton, and Gene Kelly.
Fred Astaire was not only a great dancer - changing the face of the American movie musical with his style and grace - but he was also an actor in many different dramatic and comedic roles in both movies and TV specials. He won multiple Emmys for his work in television. The Towering Inferno (1974) earned him an Oscar nomination. He received an honorary Academy Award in 1950 for his "unique artistry and his contributions to the technique of musical pictures."
Fred Astaire died in 1987 from pneumonia. With his passing, we lost a true dancing legend. His effortless lightness and grace may never be seen again. As Mikhail Baryshnikov observed at the time of his death, "No dancer can watch Fred Astaire and not know that we all should have been in another business."
And of course, a partner of his was Ginger Rogers who was also a famous actress who could dance: http://www.reelclassics.com/Actresses/Ginger/ginger.htm
