As that latin expression goes.... ."In vino veritas" "Truth is in the wine" You drink, you lose your inhibitions, and before you even knew what you were doing, you were saying all, all, all you never meant to, and never would have said, if the booze had not loosened your tongue and revealed those thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, you otherwise would have kept to yourself.
A certain well known movie actor recently lashed out vociferously about one particular group of human beings while he was "in his cups". (That means pie-eyed drunk) Of course, in the sober light of the next day, he protested that he never really meant a word of it. Too late, pal. In vino veritas. We know you now, a whole lot better than you wanted us to LOL.

For the most part, I think they say what they perceive to be the truth but their perception is probably skewed. Alot depends upon their mood while they are drunk and what they are thinking about. When we first got together, my Sweetie could only say he loved me when he was drunk. He had some bad experiences, so he was afraid to say it any other time. Of course, we're past all that, but I think they do feel less inhibited when they are drunk and are more likely to spill their guts, given the right circumstances. Just don't take everything they say too seriously. If you aren't sure, try to get them to talk about the things they said when they are sober. If it was something bad, just try to reassure them that you just need to know if there is a problem ya'll should address. No fighting or hurt feelings (hopefully). That's what we've done and it has worked for us.

I'd say it's a bit of both, people definitely lose their inhibitions about lying when drunk, ie the reasons for not telling the truth are either forgotten or "don't matter". On the other hand, most people also talk a lot of rubbish after a few too many, some obviously not true, some which might be the truth.

Either is possible. Alcohol is famous as a means of 'loosening lips' because it impairs judgment. Bear in mind that people may say something when drunk which is true but they had a good reason for not saying before. In general, drunks tend to be more of whatever they were when sober - so a bullsh*tter may tend to become even more extravagant.

Alcohol not only impairs the body but the mind, too. A person who is drunk may be less inhibited and therefore tend to speak whatever crosses their mind, but since their reasoning and thought processes are impaired, then what they say doesn't necessarily follow what they truly think or believe. They can be saying whatever randomly occurs to them at the time without it having any deeper meaning than that.

People who are very drunk generally speak alot of crap, but it is also easier for them to say things that they have been thinking about but wouldn't necessarily say when they were sober!

Some people are stupid and cowardly enough to blurt out the truth when they are snockered, pickled, pajoobalbed.
But, some people just talk crap when they are drunk.
Consider the source when you here someone spouting off when inebriated.
Usually it means this person is an *** no matter if he's telling the truth or not.

yes because alcohol lowers inhibitions, and these inihibitions which stop you from doing some sexual stuff when your sober, also make you think about the consequences of telling the truth before you speak, so when your drunk, stuff just comes out, unless you on edge more than most ppl, then even with drink, you think about what your doing and saying, but in the meantime, you don;t really enjoy yourself :(

I think people very much speak the truth when they're drunk... I know I do. Although, it depends on HOW drunk... it can reach a stage (just before they pass out) when they talk crap!

The more you drink, the more your true feelings (not necessary ideas!) shall be expressed by you.
If you are angry/depressed/afraid about something/somebody, the oral expressions of your feelings may include very bad and hurting words, too.
I think that this also meets the needs to express your love with somebody. You have to "encourage" yourself with certain amount of alcohol to be free to tell about your feelings. Just take into account that your beloved one is in such a condition to remember your loving words still in the next morning...
