there are as many answers as people who read your question and you have to multiple that number by ten-fold for those who had a direct or indirect contact with the ex-leader of Iraq who simply abused the trust and power he had. that is the real issue. now, that a death has occurred -- people's humanitarian values takes precedence and they comment rightfully or wrongfully on the photographs they recently see on t.v. or Internet. but -- a whole history of a quarter century this man has butchered innocent people and their photos and life stories are not on the Internet and none of it is shown at the same time on t.v. this is very unfair. the world belongs to all people not just a few and the few who happen to be president or vice-president or leader. the finality of "man" (i.e. that his his death) takes care of all that and we all become equals among the unequals we were while trying to survive on this planet. I would not say, S.H. story is a sad story --but rather say for humanity to have kept such an atrocious man and a despot for such a long time while he went on with his carnage --is unacceptable. I rest my case and time for you to review yours.

No ofcourse its not going to help. Did his hanging miraculously end the religious squabbles going on in Iraq? Face it people he has been out of power for quite a while now, and the fact that he is now dead, does not bring anything new to the political scene in Iraq or here in the US. There is nothing he could have accomplished a month ago in custody and there is nothing he can accomplish now, dead. All his death serves to "help" is let others see how morbid people have become by splashing his death across the news and internet like some new risque music video by madonna.

Well,
I m not muchof a fan of the death penatly, but sometimes it is the only solution..and i think with Saddam it was correct...millions of families were reliefed and happy,
Some people say that there is at least one killed in each family because of Saddam..
but i m totally against the idea of hanging him on the first day of the feast..
It is not because of him..it is because of the millions of Iraqis who deserve some peace on the feast...yes they hated him..bt not to the extend of waking them up in the morning on such horrible news..
Enough is enough..let people rest for a while

Death sentences are not imposed to "help" anything. They are a punishment for a committed crime. Nothing more and nothing less. In the case of Saddam, his crimes were horrendous...so hanging was the very least they could do.

Its not supposed to "help," as in the war. Executing him was just like executing any other murderer. The only thing its supposed to "help" is to assure that he will not murder any one else. Yes he was the leader of a country, but his execution was for the same purposes as any other inmate on death row.

I don't believe his hanging was designed to help anything at all. It was and end to justify his means (literally!) And I will not watch the video of his hanging - it serves no purpose for me to observe the death of another.

i think showing this execution is sick and pointless...how would executing a madman and a tyrant NOT help? Certainly the Kurds are greatly relieved not to ahve to deal with ethnic cleansing.

Yes thanks for making us sick again.
True, there wont be any difference at all. cuz saddam didn't exist for most of the people. he was bad for his nation, bush is bad for the whole struggling world... so if bush gets his neck cracked... the world would change instantly.

Of course it won't help. Since when does any kind of killing, whether condoned by the state or not, help?
Why not just let him rot in jail?
Punishing killing with killing is very hypocritical.
