Cause I was watching youtube and I found that a bunch of people thought that the whole display was barbaric, and cruel. (I guess that the cobra wasnt protected) Some were surprised that the snake didnt eat the mongoose, or that he won at all. Considering that the mongoose wasnt even bitten is this sort of fighting cruel to the animal? (Nevermind about the snake..) Isn't this kind of battle sort of natural and heroic? Doesnt anyone remember Riki Tiki Tavi? Should people be so indignant about the treatment of these animals and reptiles if only the snake gets hurt/killed? Is this any better or worse than bullfighting, rooster or dogfights. Anyway I thought the level of discourse on youtube was rather vitriolic so I open it to you yahooers.

i think its not creul because mongosses eat snakes in the wild , and its not like snakes are endangered. i think this kind if entertianment is like feeding a mouse to an eagal , it only natrual . plus there are way too many mice out there any way!

it is cruel mostly to the snake and to the mongoose but in nature the snake has a better chance of survival because it can find some where to hide and escape the mongoose and mongoose generally win in those fight but fight out in nature happen for many reason food territory protection what ever it may be but the fight that usually end in death is for food most other fight end with both of the alive they may be injured but they generally walk away from the fight i could understand it if it is for food such as feeding a mouse to a snake but that was done for entertained is wrong to force animal to fight for no reason is cruel and the mongoose can eat other thing than snakes it was barbaric display and as for it being heroic it was just heroic as putting a person in a room with a killer and telling them the only way they are getting out of there alive is to kill him

simply put no it not okay

I think its cruel to both animals! i dont like animals fighting and dying for the entertainment of sick people.
I'm going to add that there are certain types of mongooses that are very adept at killing cobras. If cats are for killing mice, then mongooses are for killing cobras. They are very agile and intelliggent creatures. In India this is particularly true. In Japan, it used to be quite a sport to watch a mongoose and a cobra fight.
