I think it's hilarious when animals have "people" names. My parents have named their dogs Dorothy, Hazel, and Elvira, and their cat's name is Alice!
Kathy is a GREAT name for a crocodile!

Just make sure that your mom doesn't mind sharing her name with a crocodile.
On a related matter, if this is a pet, make sure you're ready to own a pet that will get around 20' long and weigh roughly a ton. Crocs need a lot of space and are a handful even for people with a lot of experience. Also, many areas have ordnances and laws prohibiting large reptiles and especially crocodilians.

Ooooh, and how is your relationship with your mom? I wonder how she would feel about it? I wonder if that is flattering or not? When I think of a croc I don't get all 'warm and fuzzy' feelings. Perhaps you should reconsider?
