This was one of the most scandalous frauds of all time, involving the United States government, several foreign governments, and Silverstein Properties. While most people don't want to believe that their government could do such dastardly things, the raw truth is that the government and its corporate allies do such things all the time (although on much smaller scales). Government is no longer the servant of its people; it is an entity of itself, obsessed with power for the few hundred thousand wealthy elitists in this country. Silverstein's $16 million investment returned $7 billion after all the lawsuits and insurance claims were settled! It's the most flagrant example of how the government and corporate entities work together in their mutual best interests - at any cost in dollars or human lives. Another blatant example is the connection between Dick Cheney and Halliburton, which is one of the federal government's largest civilian contractors in Iraq. And, a final example is the Carlyle Group, another government contractor that has made millions for its investors and associates, including: George H.W. Bush; James Baker; and a family by the name of binLaden. -RKO-
