I'm 14, 5'3' and 85 lbs. My mom and dad are always pressuring and harassing me about how skinny I am how every one looks good in their body but I act like I dont eat, and everytime I wear a dress, she tells me to wear like 2 shorts under, and an undergarment I'm sick oft it!!! but I dont want to disrespect them. I've tried my best to be healthy but my doctor says I'm fine that its how I was made and my mom looks at me with digust, in 8th grade the kids made fun of me calling me skinny and one girl said she wonders how I would look if i was on drugs. Just because the boy she liked was playing with me. Its like I feel so bad.

It's tough now, but in a couple of years you will realize how immature these people are. Just smile and say "Thank you, I'm very comfortable just the way I am. My doctor said I'm quite healthy too."

They are all probably jealous because you can wear anything and look good in it. And that's pitiful that your mother is so critical. She's probably jealous because she's overweight.

sit your parents down, and ask them if they would want you healthy, like the doctor says you are, and you probably are if you have a petite frame, or obese, like 1/3 of the nation. And i can honestly say that those kids made fun of you because the WISHED they could be as thin as you.

You may just have a very high metabolism, try eat a little more at your meals, and have a healthy snack after school and before bed, but don't eat any junk food, that will just make you unhealthy quick. Maby you should take up a sport, like swiming, because it uses all of your muscles. This would definatly make you healthy.

My best friend Brittany is the same height and weight as you, but since she is such a small frame, that is her healthy weight, and she eats alot, she has like 5 pancakes for breakfast.

i am 5'10" and weigh about 115 lbs...i am thin. i eat like a cow...its just the way that i am. i have a very fast metabolism and burn off calories faster than most people. i have tried my darndest to gain weight but i just dont. i do not look sickly, i have a C cup breast size and a good size waist and butt so i have curves too and im sure u will. i am 20 now but i know EXACTLY how you feel. my parents never made me feel bad because they are the same way but everyone in school thought i had an eating disorder just because i didnt put on weight like everyone else...just to let you know, you will be MUCH better off than other people when you get into your 20s and 30s because u wont have that extra weight.

just remember to keep eating healthy and doing what you do. dont let anyone bring you down because theres no way that you can change what God has given you. im sure that youll get over the awkward stage soon...i did. good luck and just remember that the most important thing is your health, NOT everyones opinions.

While your mother's reaction to your appearance is a little wacky, ultimately she is just concerned for your health. She also seems to have a worry about what other people will think if they assume you have an eating disorder - which she feels would have a reflection on her and your father as parents and on your family in general. It's a natural reaction, whether or not it makes sense in everyone's mind.

85 pounds is indeed a low weight. If you were in your 20's or 30's or such, I'd have a worry for you. As you are still in adolescense, you are still 'in growth' - your bone structure may be growing faster than your musculature at the moment. And you likely have that fabulous metabolism that most teenagers have. So, as long as you are eating normally and not doing anything that would prevent that food from nourishing your body, then feel good about yourself. Just as some teens will pick on overweight kids, they will also pick on very slender ones - it's all about insecurity.

Cut your mom some slack and take it in good stride. Try to develop humor in regards to her current reactions to your physique.

oh plz, i was worse than that (hope that cheered you up a little :P )

anyways, i'm 16 and only weight 120 lbs...... you can literally see my ribs and the skin just kind of goes inward when i take a deep breath

however i do not have a disorder, i eat my 3-4 big meals and snacks and even have gigantic bowls of ice cream everynight before i go to bed (and i still sleep 8-9 hrs !!!! )

really, you could just think of it as a high metabolism rate, do you play sports alot or out walking around shopping alot? it could be just mother nature. Feel good about yourself

Only if you experience issues where you feel faintness or just feel so tired during the day should you begin to worry

I'm 16, 5'3 and weigh 100 lbs. Don't feel bad about it. I get a lot of comments about how skinny I am, but I really think it's the way I'm built. Don't listen to the other people at school and don't listen to the person up there talking about BMI. Considering your fourteen, the BMI isn't really for you yet. It's based more on adults than kids and anything is normal when you're still growing! Tell your mom to back off.

I had the same problem before just like you did in 3rd grade. I was one of the tallest people in the class but i was only about 65 lb. Because i was so stressed i couldn't eat. My "best friend" was always saying how skinny i was because she was like 10 pounds overweight and was shorter than i was. Don't listen to those kids it is their lost. But, you are very underweight try to eat a little more and drink Ensure or Boost to gain some weight. Try to gain about 5-10 lb. GOOD LUCK!

Get real. Based on your height and weight you have a BMI of 15.1, according to the charts, any BMI below 18 is underweight. You are waaaaay off the scale. You appear to have an eating disorder since you are so underweight your health is at risk. I don't believe any doctor is going to say your BMI is OK. Did you make that up? How far into denial are you? I wish you well, but you'd better take a realistic assessment about yourself. Think of this as a tough love answer, sounds like you need it.

I find it hard to believe your doctor has no problem with this. I had the same problem around your age, my doctor put me on steroids for a while, after I gained a little weight I felt great. My energy level was fantastic and I didnt catch colds and such as before. If your doctor does say you are perfectly fine, ignore comments from others. As long as you are healthy, relax. As far as the girls comments, its her jealousy and her problem.

Are you really eating the way you should or are you anorexic? If you are eating normally you might try drinking milkshakes in the evening. I was very skinny at your age and now I am fighting fat like everyone else. Once you start having kids, the weight will pack on.
