Especially if you are a Sci-Fi fan, you should read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein. It won the HUGO award in 1966 (I am pretty sure about the year) and is my favorite book. Another Sci-Fi author you should look at is Vernor Vinge. He won HUGOs for both A Fire Upon the Deep and A Deepness in the Sky, which are both excellent reads.

"Welcome To The Monkey House" - Kurt Vonnegut.

A timeless collection of short sci-fi and Romantic stories, including "Harrison Bergeron" the most well known of his short stories (I think). It's about an extremely communist ruled world where everyone is equal.

A talented ballerina has a device attached to her so every time she dances she twitches and looses her balance, a genius looses his train of thought every 20 seconds due to high pitched noises sent to a transmitter lodged in his brain.

Check it out!

You may also want to look into Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club.

He wrote an amazing mind thrilling novel called "Survivor" told through the perspective of the last member of a cult who has high jacked an empty plane and dictates his life story into the black box while he flies to his death.

It's one of my favorites.

One of my favorites that I like to recommend is Good Omens by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett. Absolutely hilarious novel about the Apocalypse.

Eric Jerome Dickey's books are great fictional reads. I've enjoyed everyone of his i've read. try "milk in my Coffee" or "naughty or nice". I also enjoy Susan Elizabeth Phillips books. "Baby of Mine" is one of my favorites. She writes funny books that are captivating, funny, and empowering to women. for historical romance books, try Judith McNaught, "Whitney McNaught".
