I have a violin. I haven't had it long, but one of the strings broke. There is so many kinds of strings! How do I know what ones to buy?

I'd highly recommend DOMINANT strings. They're great sounding and relatively reasonable in price. Inspect the strings on your violin before you buy more. Make sure that your strings aren't "unraveling". If they are buy a replacement string and replace it as soon as possible. If you can't find dominants at a local music store, go to www.sharmusic.com and search for violin strings. They should have them there =) Good Luck!

Yes, dominant is a good brand I used to use dominants on my 3/4 violin, but it really depends on what kind of violin you are using, I would reccomend Ivah pirazzi's or dominants and buy a full set. Or you could ask your teacher on what strings he would reccomend for your violin.

Dominant Strings is a good brand. Depening on how old your current strings are you may need all new strings or just the one that broke. Best of luck

I would go to First Quality Music Supply's website. You may be able to call or email them and get fixed up with just what you need. They deal in all types of strings for all types of instruments. fqms.com

Get a whole set. the strings probably need replacing anyway. Look for flat wound ones as they are gentler to the fingers for new players.
