I have been around western Europe,I like it very much. There are three countries I fall in love with!! Germany, Spain and Norway. I love people, cuture and the atmosphere there. I plan to go there again this year and if possible get a part time job in some city.
There are many cities I would reccomend you.
A MUST:
Italy: Venice and Rome

I just back-packed Europe about 6 months ago with three of my friends. We visited 8 countries: Ireland (Dublin, Shannon), England (London), France (Paris), Belgium (Brussels), Netherlands (Amsterdam), Czech Republic (Prague), Germany (Munich), and Italy (Rome, Florence, Milan).
The cities we liked best were:
Prague
Amsterdam
Rome
Paris
Research the destinations you are considering on Wikipedia. The info is extremely easy to come by.
*Remember that London is very expensive because of the weakness of the American dollar. Prague is very inexpensive because our dollar is a lot stronger than their currency.

It´s a very difficult question. More than 50 countries to choose....Are you looking for beaches? Snow? Architecture? Rural? Modern?
Few sugestions:
Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland : expensive, cold, but amazing
Portugal: cheap, good weather, excellent food, good sights
Germany: lots of things to do...modern cities, historic places, good beer.....
Malta: very different place to visit...
Ireland: you will love that place!!!

from personal experience, paris is a must. spend at least a week there.
madrid, dont waste your time with those rude spaniards. dont even think about spain.
