I prefer short anime series.
Why?
I define short anime series anywhere from 52 episodes or less.
Fullmetal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell:SAC, Gankutsuou, Elfen Lied, Haibane Renmei, Kino's Journey and KimiNozo, all of them short animes, have unique, touching stories, that if they were extended, they would be too "fluffed" or filled with nothing but filler. These series have no fillers, just straight-to-the-point storytelling. These series don't have many cliches, some none at all. They are all unique.
I define long anime series as 53 episodes or more.
Long anime series, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Kyo Kara Maoh and especially InuYasha have a good amount of filler episodes and go by slowly. I dislike InuYasha, Naruto, Bleach and others. I can't stand the mainstream anime series that are overly-cliched. These series aren't unique.
There are a few exceptions though, ie Monster. It's a masterpiece and it's a long anime series. There are other exceptions.
