Everyone is either black, white, latin, or asian when in reality it should be more like
White
Mediterainian
Middle Eastern
Indian
South Indian
West African
East African
South African
Asian
Pacific Islander
Aboriginal
North American Indian
South American Indian
and Racial Hybrids

And they should probably even be more complex then that if your going to divide them at all. I just don't see the point of classifying race if you're not going to be accurate about it.

If you're talking about needing classifications for survey purposes or statistics, then by all means, your research should contain those classes for your data. So I can see where maybe the DMV or a job application or a government census might need or want this information, but don't you think our choices in life right now are over detailed and picky and specific?

Whether you're talking about race, coffee, or kind of bag you want your groceries put into, I think we've just overdone the number of choices given to us over the past couple of decades. We need to revert back to SIMPLICITY. Who really cares whether you put groceries in a paper bag or plastic one? If people weren't given a choice, they wouldn't know the difference. Be happy you HAVE groceries. Look at the millions of starving people who have no food, for crying out loud!

Yes, yes, there are discerning people who are environmentally conscienece and yady, yady, yah. But the more we insist on being individuals, the more selfish our community and country becomes because we think everything should be "our way." As Team World, not Team Me, we really are more alike than different. And specifically pointing all that out with micro-classifications, just proves very few people have not yet opened their eyes to see their neighbors how they really are.

Well we shouldn't classify race's. All that does is say there is nothing in common among the races. The only use i can see for it is job hiring and collage applications for scholarships(with i think is a bunch of Bull). But the reason we do it that way is because there are too many different races out there that look the same. I'm sorry, but i cant tell the difference between a Iranian and a Pakistani, can you.

They have gotten a little better. they allow people to chose two races. My mother was 100% Japanese and my father white. But I could ony choose one when I was a kid so I chose white. But what about people who are like ten different things? Its stupid to do this racial classification thing at all. i dont think you could ever accurately classify a lot of people because they are so mixed.

I consider the word race to be offencive when people are referring to another persons ethnic/cultural background.

We are all human beings from different backgrounds.

And what has a persons colour got to do with anything in today's society.

I'm a person with knowledge that my parents and ancestors did not have, also in saying that they had/have the knowledge is or will be lost to me.

We are our parents and ancestors, but we are not them.

My children are from this country, but they also know they have a heritage that comes to them from the rest of the world.

The children within my extended family are colours of the rainbow from the fairest of the fair to the darkest of the dark.

What runs thru their veins are the following nationalities and more.

German, French, Irish, Spanish, Australian, Samoan, Fijian, Tongan, Canadian, Yankee, Kiwi.

As for the ethnic make up that is innumerable.

For the religions and atheists a blessing.

So how how would you do a classification for my families.

I feel sorry for you.

Maybe a half page should be reserved for the answers to "Race" on the questionnaires that we fill out. Then I could write, Native American, Irish, German, Welsh, English, and Scottish as my answer.
Oh, but that might take a long time to fill out. Unless you are seeking medical diagnoses pertinent to race, why do we need to be classified? We are all just people.

I see your classifications are very limited as well...the question they ask should not be 'what race are you' it should be 'how many centuries has your family been in this country' ---that's all they really want to know, anyway.

There should only be one classification in this country. AMERICAN. There needs to be no further classification.

No, as a results of fact the so mentioned as boundries between races have continuously been fuzzy. to boot, human beings of "blended race" are becoming to be extra basic then ever. we can probably proceed to describe human beings via their dermis shade, even inspite of the shown fact that it would not would desire to be so loaded with which potential. there is basically one human race easily.

Limited classifications are easier for governmental/political system to handle.

This is some bunch of bullshit that this country does...but i think they do it to get the statistics...eg in universities en highschools, to see how many blacks or white are there....but mostly they always attck blacks alone which is dumb...
