Here's to you! Congratulations for the rest of your life.
Make the effort to change your thinking to the reasons why you are quitting, rather than thinking how you miss those cigs. Whenever you catch yourself longing to smoke, stop right there and consciously change. If you have to, pull out your list of positives, and say them or shout them!
Don't forget to have healthy snacks on hand and lots of fruit juice and water for the first week or so.
Lots of help here: http://www.quitguide.com

First congratulations on being smoke free so far. You probably know but you should never have started again after your son was born. Now go out to the store and get some gum, hard candy or suckers to keep your mouth occupied and if you enjoy knitting or crocheting etc start a project if you don't have one started. Think about the fact that you're improving your health as well as your childs health since second hand smoke is bad. If you want more incentive to stay smoke free do a web search for end stage COPD or end stage emphysema and read how horrible this is. As a nurse I have seen end stage COPD where someone was a smoker and now at the end of his life is so hungry for air even though he has oxygen on 24/7 and the anxiousness that goes along with his air hunger. It is not a pretty sight so I congratulate you on quitting.

Use patches that's what i did
cold turkey can be hard
& keep telling yourself you don't smoke anymore when the feeling pops into your head!!
& also tell yourself that you are so proud you don't smoke & also that you are FREE of them for good
it will pop into your head often but you just have to use self talk to yourself that will help you get through it
you can also chew gum with the patches
i did 4 a week as that really helped then i switched to PK etc
good luck & never give in again

Kudos to you and I hope your effort is successful. It's not easy!
When you feel the urge to smoke, busy yourself with doing something else and TRY not to turn to food!
Get a box of drink/coffee stirrers and use them as a replacement for holding the cig, and chewing on them can help a bit too for the oral fixation.
A friend of mine went on Wellbutrin to stop smoking a few months ago and although she didn't think it was very effective at first, she can feel a definite difference when she forgets to take it. Consider one of the many smoking cessation options to help you along your path.

Try some nicotine gum. It's expensive, but I've heard it helps a lot, and however much it costs, it's worth it.
You might try some regular gum as well, just to have something for your mouth to do when there's no cigarette in it. I know I phrased that a bit strangely, but I've heard it helped.
When my grandma quit smoking (long before nicotine gum existed), so got a piece of clay, wrapped in a hankerchief, and squished it whenever she wanted to smoke. Maybe you could try some sillyputty or play-dough. You can wrap it in a hankerchief or bandana to keep your hands clean.
Nicotine is one of the toughest addictions to overcome, but I know you can do it. Don't give up :)

Well, I have never smoked a cigarette in my life so I really don't know what your going through but one of my X-boyfriends is trying to quit as well. He finds it really helpful to try and stay out of stressful situations and he stays around people that he knows don't agree with smoking. He has been rewarding himself with little gifts every week that he goes without smoking and I guess he feels very triumphant with his willpower and winning himself over. As long as you can keep reminding yourself what good your doing to your body and keeping yourself busy I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck.

Laura, in case you're serrious approximately giving up smoking take some good suggestion that worked for me. i offered a e book referred to as EASYWAY to renounce smoking by employing Allan Carr. It expenditures approximately £7.00, and explains you ought to be attentive to approximately quitting. There are no longer any ask your self methods, no being dealt with like a new child, in simple terms good good motives as to why we smoked in the 1st place. i replaced right into a 30 an afternoon smoker for 30 years, and that i've got in no way smoked now for 4 weeks. i do no longer omit it, i dont choose it, and that i dont choose for it. good success, i myself do wish you're able to do the main concepts-blowing factor.

This is a tough one, especially because a physical addiction is involved. I had a close Friend who successfully quit and he used to go for a walk when the carving was bad. If he wasn't someplace where he could walk, he would suck on sugar free peppermints.
Good Luck!! You will be glad you quit.

I quit after I had my kids. I smoked for 12 years and did it cold turkey. Its all in your mind frame. Don't set yourself up for failure. YOU CAN QUIT. It gets easier each day that you don't do it. Don't let them control you, it is your conscious decision to make a healthy lifestyle change. Stick to it. You owe it to yourself. Pretty soon its going to hit you that its quite a disgusting habit. Good luck and don't quit quitting!!!
