If you do need a friend to travel with.....and like some other answers I found going alone to be so much more invigorating advertise in something like Scottish Youth Hosteler magazine , they are affiliated to International Hostels , I used them as a reference point and never looked back , Eastern Europe is an unfound jewel , very cheap , no hassles from anyone , even the police helped us at 2am when we got off the train at the wrong stop. I cant recommend Bulgaria enough. Pm me if you need more info , trains are brilliant , cheap and while you sleep the miles roll by , in the morning new country every other day , I LOVED IT hahahahahhahaha I cant wait for next year :O)

make sure you have a lot in common as 6 mths is a long(ish) time to be travelling together, maybe a friend or friend of friend, or fone up robbie williams and see if he can spare some time, you never know your luck. PS i`ve just remembered. i`m a great, nice person, unfortunately skint. Oh well, have a nice holiday.

Finding someone is relatively easy.
If they are reliable, true, honest and available for that long would be challenging.
You could place a wanted ad somewhere - and state what you wish in a person - and make sure you meet a couple of times before you actually go and travel.
Also, be sure that your travel partner pays for him/her self. If they have trouble with that, he/she is not the right one to go with. (unless you are a billionaire of course)

There's no such thing finding someone to travel with any where!!!
It's very important to know the person very very well in order to trust him or her not just for your belongings but for your life too.you should
Know the person as a friend from school or your neighborhood and you must have a lot of common between both of you if you really want to have a successful trip.

travelling on your own is best
you will meet so many new friends and friendly local people of the places you visit that would not approach a couple or group
go for it!
