Social convention I suspect. how about "TeHee TeeHee" as another. I once knew a little girl (a mate's little sister that really sounded like that).
TeeHee!

That's what English speakers think it sounds like, pretty much the same as we think a cow sounds like "moo" even when the verb is "the cow is lowing." I'm sure in some other language, laughter is ko ko ko ko.

i presumed maximum laughter became written down as 'lol' in recent times. human beings write down ha-ha-ha because of the fact... nicely, what might you're saying your laughter sounds like? there is style of a 'h' sound, then a 'ah' sound... So, ha! :P

because when you laugh you don't make a sound like ko ko ko or ti ti ti.. it sounds much more like ha ha ha or he he he.

Well if it's only two letters thats not a laugh, that's a chuckle. You need at least two "ha"s before it's laughter.

Very good question...I think when we laugh, the way we take out our breath is sounding like an 'h'..and there has to be a vowel at the front...Does that make sense? Sorry i cant be more clearer

Essentially because we are "chopping" up an outward breath when laughing.

Think about how your breathing sounds when panting, it starts with the "h" sound. Whether it's "Ha", "Ho" or "Hee" depends on the slackness/tautness of your vocal cords whilst chopping up the outward breath...

Do you make that sound when you Laugh? Ha ha, is an Onomatopoeia (occasionally spelled omomatopœia) - a word, or occasionally, a grouping of words, that imitates the sound it is describing, and thus suggests its source object, such as “bang” or “click”, or animal such as “moo”, “oink”, “quack”, or “meow” - or Ha ha, he he, ho ho....

Laughing comes from the gut ~ beginning with a "H" sound. You laugh strange.
