I am transferring my fish from an existing 10 gallon tank to a long 20 gallon. I bought 2 danios yesterday and noticed that it appears one tends to nip the fins of a Platy. He also chases the other Danio, whose rear fins appear nipped. Finally, I also noticed that the antenne of my catfish were shorter this morning than last night. Is it likely that the Danio is responsible?

Generally all types of danios are very friendly and peaceful. However you took a schooling fish and put them in a pair, this is bizarre and unnatural for them so their behaviour will be strange until you get them about 4 more friends. Aggression from isolated danios or any schooling fish is not unheard of.

Do you know what kind of danios? If say they are giant danios, they are more aggressive then say zebra danios. They are a top swimming, schooling fish, meaning they do better in groups and if they don't have a school to swim with, like tiger barbs, they will chase other fish ocassionally. If you plan to keep them, try more danios. 4 is good, but 6 is better. Good luck
