Because he treated them like crap when he was their gang leader.

Little Alex got what he deserved in the end. He abused his own friends and everyone else. When the tables were turned he was treated as he treated people. Although, I still laugh whenever I hear "I'm singin in the rain" LOL

His former droogs beat up Alex because when he was their leader, he treated them like sh*t, and they're revengeful little b*tards.
