Because sex sells. It's not a good thing. I don't think women are happy with it, but it would be a generalization to say ALL women aren't. it's a personal thing, which is the reason that things like Girls Gone Wild exists. Some women see exploitation as empowerment, others- like me- view it as the opposite.

There is a certain construed connection between young beautiful female body (not a woman herself as a person) and the ideal of property and prestige. if a young successful man can provide a good car, nice house etc. he can provide a nice, blond young woman as well. It gives one feeling of power and control to a potential consumer (man in this case, since the most expensive goods are expected to be provided by him), and power and control is what we all desire. In a way her body becomes a kind of material property. I don't think that women like it generally. It is OK to be young and beautiful, it is not bad to earn some money in modeling too, but unconsciously, using woman's body for advertising leaves the impression that this body is a thing, an object of possessing, object that one could buy and do with it whatever one wants. Here, a direct connection between using a woman's body in advertising and domestic violence appears. neither woman is happy to be so, but this connection is not so transparent and obvious, so it is very hard to fight against it.

Because even women find women sexy (no, I'm not a lesbian, or even bi). Also, women will respond to a sexy ad featuring a chick because we're wondering how she got her abs to look like that, or admiring what she's wearing... or WHATEVER, but still, we're watching.
Or, said differently - run a typical beer commercial and you've got the attention (though not the same attention, but still, the attention) of both men and women. Take the chicks out and put buff dudes in their place and instead of having everyone's attention, you've just got female (and, of course, gay dude) attention. Putting women in there means that you reach a broader audience.

Women are the primary consumers and wouldn't buy something featuring a man unless the man was being beaten in some form by a woman.
Also, if you are relying on personal experience you are probably viewing advertising targetted at you, take that into consideration.

Women are used because they are beautiful to most of the world. Do we like that? Yes we do while we are young and if we are thought to be good-looking and "built". But the tables turn on all women and the older ones in my family get more jealous and disgusted with young females being used for ads that they can't shut up complaining about the ads! And the most offended women seem to be the ones who used to wear skin-tight clothes with their bazookas hanging out! What a hoot! Promised myself not to get that way----even wrote it down so I won't forget it!!
