A mix of ethane and propane is often used to make ethylene and propylene. Other products are methane, hydrogen, acetylene, propyne, a trace of some other higher olefins, and a liquid called pyrolysis gasoline. Some crackers use heavier feedstocks like naphtha, atmospheric gas oil, and even vacuum gas oil. In these heavier feeds, about 1/4 of the product is ethylene and propylene with 3/4 going to higher olefins and a lot of petroleum coke.
