also, i occassionally get a cartoon video that is fine. What causes this and how do I fix it?

Its probably the source is slow. Most news sites have good connections.

there could be various reasons , 2 i can think of now

either the video which is being served from some external site , has a slow connection / too much users

OR

the videos are in flash or some format which requires higher ram / processor speed in ur machine

Sounds like they're badly encoded.

Check your computer for spyware and close out any unnecessary program, and see if the videos are still bad. If they are, the problem is the video.
