In the second act what happens to the witch? Did she die? How did she die?

NOPE, she doesn't die. she does sing an amazing song: "careful the things you say, children will listen. children will not obey, but children will see... and learn" - and on... this seques into the finale with all the characters (INTO THE WOODS we go again... you have to every now and then.) You can actually rent a very good version of this musical from most video stores, with the original broadway cast. enjoy!
