What does "broken link"mean when it shows up when a downloading cannot be completed?

It means exactly that. For whatever reason, your computer lost contact with the server. Simple 'tho... -Just refresh the page, and go back to try it again.

that means the connection between the link/web site/ server and your connection/lan/whatever has been disconnected.

that either mean its been disconnected or changed locations...which broke it.
