Typically, the doctor will do an ultrasound at 18-20 wks when the baby is big enough to tell for sure. But the sex can be detected even as early as 12 wks, just very hard to see on ultrasound.

The doctors like to do an ultrasound to determine the sex at around 18-20 weeks, i guess to be accurate. They told me that I wasn't able to find out at 16 weeks when I asked the same question, however I got an ultrasound done at 16 weeks and found out I'm having a boy! congrats to you.

My friend can tell at 11 1/2 -12 weeks. She has the 4-D machine and has never been wrong. She told my cousin she was having a boy at 11 1/2 weeks and she told me I was having a girl at 12 weeks.

the doctor usually scedules the u/s for your 20th week. But theres always a possibility you wil not know. I am 33 weeks I already had 4 u/s and I still don't know for sure. They say it looks like a girl but she is very shy and it might be a boy too ... and it sucks 'cuz I want to go shoping already :)

Because I had a difficult pregnancy I had many, many ultrasounds. The first one where they could determine that it was a boy I was 14 weeks.
