first try the ATT help sight help.sbcglobal.net there are lots and lots of walk through for this exact issue. if you can't figure it out call 1-877-722-3755 for ATT tech support. most of our 2 wire modems support both wired and wireless connections but you may need our home networking department to walk you though the connection.

simple the 2 wire supports up to 8 connections wireless

You would have to network the two computers together with a router. Since you have a laptop (which I am assuming includes a wireless card) you want to get a wireless router ($50-60 at most electronic stores or Walmart). Run a network cable from the DSL modem to the special port on your router. Run a second cable from a port on the router to your regular PC and run the set up disk that came with the router. That will set up the wireless part of the router and allow you to share files and the Internet connection between the two PCs.

almost all at&t provided routers are wireless capable.if what you got there is the one with 6 ports then definitely that's a router & is wireless capable.your gateway laptop i believe has a built in wireless adapter so just connect that using wireless zero configuration----click on Start menu then go to Run,type in services.msc on the run field.double click on Services, look Wireless Zero Configuration then make sure the Start up type is Automatic & Service status is Started.then go to Control Panel then Network Connections & right click on the Wireless Network Connection icon then click on View Available Wireless Network.you should find there your network.your network name is 2WIREXXX (XXX is the last 3 digits of the serial no. of your router)---click on it & click connect.it will ask fo a network key.network key is the 10 digit code enclosed in brackets right below the barcode.then try to browse to see if your connected.to share files on both computers you can use the Network Setup Wizard to automatically turn file and printer sharing on or off. To start the Network Setup Wizard, click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Setup Wizard---do this on both computers.

Go buy a $30-$40 router, preferably Lynksys.
Connect both machines to it and make sure File and Print Sharing is installed on both.
Put both PCs into the same workgroup and create a Share on the source PC or both and map a drive to the share(s).
