Alright we still need a drummer, but we started a band. This is like the 7th band i've been in. I'm the only girl out of 2 guys we play music like Lostprophets, 30 Seconds To Mars, and Evanescence. Anyway I need some advice on how to get out that we need a drummer, and also we need some help with band names anyone got any ideas?

yes, flyers.
U2 started as a Flyer posted up by larry mullen (the drummer).
you could even post online on sites like craigsliste or something

as for bandnames, try a verb. it's something different. it will make you stand out among all the bands that start with "The"....hahahah
good luck!

The Music Stores, all the drummers usually frequent the music stores, ask the clerks, a lot of times they are on a first name basis with them, and know which ones are looking for a band! Sometimes they have a bulletin board! The smaller clubs, go talk to the band, preferably the drummer and ask them if they know a drummer looking for a job!

We had the same problem: There are so few people who can play drums that you're lucky to get any drummer, let alone a good one. Our solution: program the drums, get a drummer later when we're getting plenty of publicity, which allows US to call the shots and pick who we want, rather than getting messed about by people who don't turn up to rehearsals and are in (literally) eight or so bands at once - and will ditch the other seven if one looks like it's going to pay off - yes they are that mercenary!

As regards band names, think of a line from a song that you all like, or perhaps something from a book or film. Good Luck!

We're doing the same thing right now. Our last drummer just bailed on us. We're advertising on a site called MusicMates.com. They let you post a free "classified" ad or pay for an upgraded ad...you can specify your genre of music, where you want to play, whether you're into touring, where you see yourself in a year...

Also, you might check around for music schools in the area. They'll usually let you post a flyer. See if you can find a Guitar Center around or other music store and ask if they'll let you post a flyer.

Just make sure you advertise specifically for what you want, so you don't have to sift through drummers who live in their mom's basements, don't have cars but smoke meth, mid-life crisis victims who are 50 and just discovered they want to rock out to Loverboy all day...

Good luck--

Contact Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys for band names. He is known for coming up with great and original names.
