KIng James, then Charles. Charles was beheaded and there was no king from 1649 to
1660. The Cromwells took over, then there was Charles the second, James the second and then William and Mary.

King James, son of Mary Queen of Scots inheirited the throne from Elizabeth I

King James of Scotland ruled after Queen Elizabeth as he was her closest kin (the son of her cousin Mary of Scotland). He was dethroned and one of his cousins (I think) to his place. I know the Stewarts ruled England for some time before the Hapsburgs took over.

If my history serves me correctly, I think it was King Stephen (short lived as he was murdered on the throne) then it was King George.
