I've lost some weight recently and tried on some Ralph Lauren Jeans and the 2 Petites were too big. I used to wear RL's 2P's up until 10 years ago and they always fit me perfectly until I gained weight. I finally lost the weight I'd gained and the new RL's classic cut are huge in the hip area. They were literally falling off of me.

You have it exactly right. Vanity sizing has definitely changed sizing where an article of clothing that used to be a true size 6 is now actually a 10 or 12 marked as a 6. The more expensive the clothes the smaller they are marked to sell.

due to the growing epidemic of american's getting fatter. They have been altering the sizes of clothing. Just saw a report on tv last night that the average american woman is 5'4" tall, weights 145 pounds and is a size 14. If you went back and measured marilyn monroe for example she would be a 14 - 16 with present day measurements.

I wish that women's clothing would be measured like men's using measurements. a size 33 waist is a 33 waist.

Some brands change the cut of their clothes, they either make them larger to make the customer feel smaller or they make them smaller, I've noticed a change in a couple different labels over the years, it's hard to find clothing companies that cut their clothes true to size.

Size are definitly larger...my mom was a larger size than me when she was in high school, but she was very athletic and smaller than I am.
I also bought a pair of Volcom jeans--size 5 which should fit perfectly, and they were huge. Sizes are definitly getting larger.
