I think you're better off getting faster memory rather than slower memory.
Most of your apps will certainly make use of the 2 Gig's but it is questionable whether you will truly ever need the 4 for any reason.
Another choice you don't present here is running the memory in "dual-channel" configuration. This is where you install the identical modules and configure your BIOS to run them in a much faster mode than the "conventional" setup.

I've never seen a situation like that, but if you're correct, then certainly take the 4gb of RAM over just 2gb.

4gig cause you can still put 10288pics while you can have only 2944 pics with 2gig
