there can never be a first player from WI to play test cricket unless someone from WI played for eng or aus or sa before year 1928 but I can assure you that never happened before WI entered the world stage of cricket... WI team debuted together in year 1928... their first ever cricket team was as follows...

CR Browne, G Challenor, LN Constantine, MP Fernandes, GN Francis, HC Griffith, FR Martin, RK Nunes (Capt & WK), CA Roach, WH St Hill, JA Small...

first bowler to bowl for WI was George Francis...
first batsman to face a bowl for WI was George Challenor...

I would like to know how you are sure about George Challenor??? @ JAM123

@ Peter Cat, but Samuel Morris was born in Hobart and Hobart is in Australia... Samuel's parents were from WIs though...

There is someone who fits Faraz's description.

Samuel Morris, who represented Australia in one Test match in 1884-5, is the first West Indian to play Test cricket.
