Im sorry to hear you gerbil died, but at least you still have the other one! It really depends on how much time you spend with him, whether or not he has toys and stuff to keep him occupied, and whether or not you buy another hamster/gerbil to keep the little guy company. Some gerbils will live longer than others, just give him lots of attention so he doesn't get lonely.

Sorry- long ago- my gerbil and mouse died. I don't know. Did they live in the same cage for a long time?

i dont think that really matters unless he has seperation anxiety. he will still live the average life span of a gerbil if u think he wont live cause of the other gerbil get a new one
