"Allow my wife to talk on the phone?" In formulating an answer to this fascinating question I can but paraphrase a passage from Charles Dickens' "OliverTwist."

Oliver has finally been found and delivered to his grandfather, who summons Mr. Bumble, the beadle, to demand from him an explanation of how he could have known of Oliver's origin and whereabouts for all this time without disclosing it to the authorities. Mr. Bumble promptly points the finger at his wife and attempts to shift all blame to her.

Oliver's grandfather counters: "But sir, the law supposes that you control the actions of your wife."

Whereupon Mr. Bumble retorts, "If the law supposes that, then the law is a [sic] ***; moreover, the law is a bachelor!"

QED.

I am dismayed to see that the censor has presumed to censor Dickens. The word that appears above in asterisks is the second syllable of the word jackass. The [sic] immediately preceding that word was inserted merely to indicate that Dickens had deliberately used "a" rather than "an."

In this instance its the landlady. She has the two calls week
system, except for emergencies that happen as much as 25
times per day. Joke is she is on maybe 12 hours a day. So
she gets kicked off 20 times a week by the chores suprevisor.

What do you mean allow? I am not a phone person but, no one will ever tell me how long I can be on the phone,if someone told me to get off the phone-that would be hilarious.

I'm not looking for a father.
My Dad had very little success in trying to limit my phone time, whatever makes you think a husband would have more luck?
Not happening sweetheart.

Yes, you have opened Pandora's Box with that question! Beware of the estrogen army that will attack you. I talk to my BF long distance (California to Pennsylvania) about 10 hours per week. My husband got over it a long time ago!
