Nah!
Don't worry; as you practise, bit by bit, at first, your hand will get used to it, and you won't be wanting a pick.
Picks can be terribly limiting. You need to be able to use all your fingers to eventually, get a much better effect, to play more effective arpeggios, and to play the notes quicker.
Besides which, picks emit a clicky sound on the strings and are mainly only good for playing cords, or tunes using limited speed.
But, no matter what instrument you play, there is nothing like using the natural hands and fingers to get that effect of better 'touch' and feeling into your playing.
It aids the 'human' effect in your music.

Well if you are finger picking its nice to use a thumb pick or your fingers. When you are strumming an acoustic guitar its not as loud when you use your thumb but you can also use a pick. Most of the time on electric guitar use can use a pick and it will sound fine! I hope that it helps you!

Doesn't matter really. It all depends on what you want to play. Folk music uses a lot of finger-picking as does classical. If you can grow your nails long enough, you can get a very natural "pick" sound.

It depends on the type of pick you use. They have different stiffness, some are thin and easy to bend, while others are firmer. You can use your hand, but I wouldn't recommend it. You can get callouses or blisters. I have a friend that got many blisters from using his thumb, although he played loud rock.

In my experience, it would be to your advantage to be able to play using a pick and without, I've performed a lot and I was never caught flatfooted, not being able to do both! Some songs just sound better without a pick, and some songs sound better with a pick!

picks are ways better because u can strum much faster. not using a pick would make your hand hurt. if you want to use a pick get thin ones for strumming and slightly thinker ones for picking individual strings.
trust me picks are alot easier to use.

I usually use a pick, as do most people, but that is mainly a personal preference. Some people use their hand. Its mostly up to what is most comfortable for you.
