Due to the lack of awesome TRUE rpgs, I think it is high time some people get together and make a great true rpg, and get the ball moving. I am a graphic design artist, and have taken many creative writing classes on top with an obsession for good rpgs. the only thing i lack is the abilitly to make it happen. so my question is: does anyone want to get in on it if you know the programming aspect..this is just an expirement, but i would like to see somthing suceed. Anyone want to see this happen too?

I understand what you mean. Are you talking about stuff in the vein of Infocom's text games, or maybe something like Phantasy Star?

Or are you talking, "Tabletop gaming without having to find other players?"

The only thing I can think of is to go to elance.com. That's a site where people in second-world countries (where our money goes further) are willing to do projects for what Americans would consider peanuts.

Oh, and if you're a student, try putting together a flyer with the kind of programmer you're looking for (plenty of folks like to build games... even though I've heard it's a major pain), then post it in a CIS (computer information systems) or other programming-type area at all the local colleges/universities.

If they don't call you, begin talking with programming-type professors -- you may or may not be able to afford _their_ services, but they doubtless have enterprising students who may have just missed your flyers, or who might be shy. Ask the professors to mention it in their classes, and maybe even make it an extra-credit deal.

The obvious benefits are something to call their own (men like to build things... I don't know about women), a potentially fun game, and maybe even the ability to sell 'em and get some intellectual property going (you ever consider starting your own game design house?).

I'm leaping really far, but if you see a niche that isn't being taken care of, and you think you can fill it, go for it. The worst that can happen is that you expand your portfolio and your network.

Sorry I can't program -- but if you want a hand with writing and art, e-mail me at Geeloeeloee@yahoo.com.

I can help if you want, though, I won't be able to contact you via a phone (I don't have a phone :P). I do have internet though, which is obvious, and I am somewhat of a good graphics designer, also I know a bit into the realm of PHP.
