I'm turning 16 this month, and I'm hopefully getting my license in March after I complete GA driving school. My dad's a CPL Truck Driver, so I had lots of experience. Anyone know of any good starter cars? I don't like big things like trucks or SUVs, so something small like an Acura, but not that expensive. The cheapest, best car you can think of for a starter please? Thanks!

I would suggest a Mercedes 190 Diesel from the mid 80s. These can get up to 40mpg. If you find one in good shape, it will be ruggedly reliable up to 300,000 miles. Parts are cheap and available. Your father will appreciate the mechanical aspects of the Diesel. Finally, it's not overpowered or flashy, so you can stay out of trouble with cops. You can get them for a couple of grand if you look diligently.

I started on a Ford Focus, it was a 2002. Great on gas, comfortable, and safe. Also, it was cheap, pretty affordable for a 16 year old who would probably be paying for their own gas, insurance or note.
