how do i get my magic points up for the ds version of final fantasy III?

Right now my red mage's job lvl is 3 but my mp points is only 1

it has nothing to do with job level

your regular [EXP] level needs to be higher in order to get more magic slots for each magic level

if it was possible to have a level 1 white mage with a job level of 99 (which is not possible) you will still have just one magic point in magic level 1

so what do job levels affect, you ask? a higher job level increases the damage that you can do while in that class

Keep playing with the Red Mage and when the class levels up, your MP should increase.

The higher the experience level (not the job level) the more magic points you will have. Btw, magic points change with each job.
