Brain injuries are also discussed in psychology courses, as sometimes it is an injury or tumor that can make people behave different than they normally do.
As the brain is very complex, it generally is discussed in many different courses. Doctors sometimes become specialized in just one type of brain injury -- for example speech areas or motor areas.
Most textbooks, even in highschool, will cover some types of brain injuries -- but because there could be so many different types (from concussion to stroke and many things beyond and in between) it's really difficult to get into any detail in general classes. It's only when in college where the information gets more detailed.
If you are curious about brain injuries, read the following pages, and then research more about types that interest you.

It hurts psychologically...lol But seriously. Yes, we should teach as much as possible in Biology and Anatomy. Back in high school I didn't know much about brain damage or dicease. They taught us plenty about our bodies at a celular level, but there is so little they taught us about medicine it's pathetic. Science was always my favorite subject and it shaped the way I looked at my surroundings ever since. I believe our schools can do better.

Anatomy and physiology is the best time to discuss the workings of the brain and what brain injuries can do, but biology also can play into it...
after all, biology is the study of life... and your brain is needed for life, so.... yeah

The science of brain injury is taught in neuroanatomy and physiology. It is usually a separate course, and is required for physical and occupational therapists, psychologists, neuropsychologists, neurolinguists, and speech pathologists.

I'd say we need to teach it in not only science and biology, but also Psychology (and psychiatry).
Happy New Year.

I think it is the most important organ to be save and function the body properly. Read about Dr. Ben Carson's story and his inspiration as a brain surgeon. He was even involved miscelleneous crimes when he was young.
