Over the years the values of our societies have changed greatly. What values were shown in ancient myths, such as Heracles, or Perseus, that we have lost now? Basically, what are some of the ancient values, and what are some of the present days?

Maybe Mythology is no myth or maybe loosely based on fact…

Could the Devil be Hephaestus. Notice the resemblance, half goat and all.

In the bible they say there are two beasts. They say Satan’s mark is 666, while the devil has cloven feet.

After all they say ..."And his number is Six hundred threescore and six"

We can find original text written in Greek, Latin as well as Hebrew. The Greek alphabet was assigned numerical values (The X gives the Z sound of Xylophone) X (=Chi) 600; Xi (shaped like a curled capital E) 60 and S (Sigma) 6. (Although Sigma is no longer used, it was) Thus 600, 60 and 6 spells XES, the Greek spelling for Zeus. In the KJV translation - where the name of the prophet Elisha (meaning 'My God is Saviour') has been retained in the paganised form 'Eliseus' (My god is Zeus). In similar fashion, the Name of the Hebrew Messiah YAHU'SHUAH (meaning 'YAHU is Saviour') has been paganised to read 'JeZeus', ('God is Zeus') which later became 'Jesus' in the English language (pronounced 'Jezus').

600 (X), 60 (Xi,=E), 6 (S) the number of his name, clearly spells XES the original Greek spelling for ZEUS.

I think the way we think is very similar to the way they thought "back then"...
Not much has changed - we still believe in the same values - but maybe not as strongly and it isnt as evident as in the time of the ancient romans/greeks because we dont have the same stories told...
The values of the society may have changed - but not the values of the individual. ----if you are talking about morals ---
-----If you are talking about how things were valued - the ancient greeks/romans valued strength, heroism, wisdom.....
its hard to judge what exactly our current society values ... I would love to say respect and wisdom but I fear that it our society is based in values such as physical beauty, intelligence (different from wisdom - mind you...), and finance.
Thats just the way I see it... You are intitled to your own opinion...

ancient myths praised bravery, athleticism, cunning, wisdom, and honoring and obeying their gods and their unknown dangers. Myths when they might be written of our lives will be revolving about much the same plus dealing with machinery(autos, planes, hydraulics, fuels, massive control of our environment, and also horribly powerful governments).
Ancient myths involve catastrophe's that were felt to be caused by some failings of the humans. eg meteors, earthquakes, volcanoes, results from near misses by large asteroids, etc. with unclearness of the events by oral transmissions, language changes, etc.
