It does ... so many young girls buy into the myth that this is how to succeed. However, rap music is no different from heavy metal before it or even playboy/penthouse.

There is good rap music out there where women are not objectified. You just have to know how to find it. Common (Sense) is a good example....

I guess since I am educated and no the difference between entertainment and real life it doesn't bother me as much. I just don't think teen girls should be listening to a lot of what is out today.

Sometimes I do get mad because it makes people think that is what rap is all about. Back in the days rappers did not rap this way.The recording industry has been gangsterfied since the late 80's. There must be some anger in todays rappers.A lot of rappers don't really mean to call all women out of their names but some do.It's like this,we can hate what we love.

Freedom of speech and "artistic" expression is certainly a privilege (and fought-for right) of our society. However it bothers me quite a bit that people will blast this sort of "music' into the airwaves from their cars etc. thereby effectively taking away my right and privilege to NOT listen to it--- or have my kids hear it.
I think some of the rap music is just as offensive as if pornography were shown publicly on billboards. etc. There are some things which people should be allowed to shelter their kids from--- and themselves, also for that matter.
I think it is not only demeaning to women in general, but violent as well... and frankly, I wonder how these so-called musicians would feel having their mothers, daughters, or sisters treated as they advocate in their music.
To treat someone--anyone!-- as a soul-less, mindless body--- put on earth for exploitation, to be used for one's own pleasure or gain--is the root of all suffering in this world.
Love is the only answer!!! Love God--- Love others.

The young lady above is correct. Common, among many others have rap music out that doesnt want to make you cover your ears. Its just sad that its ok for men to speak like that about women, even though they have mothers, and daughters, sometimes even wives. LLCool J's album is good as well. Just go to best buy, you can go to a listening station to listen to an artists album before purchasing.

It's wrong and a lot of these rappers are to stupid to realize it's the 21st century. Although many woman are willing to sell themselves in order to recieve money out of poverty or plain greediness. These rappers have to wake up and realize women are not toys for men.

Of course! It influences the way guys treat me at school! They act like their life is just one big rap video and they can treat girls like trash! Also, I want to see all of those girls in rap videos to get run over by a truck.

Yes along with the girls who are willing to "dance" in the videos don't help the situation (think Super****). Most of these guys are just studio gangsters anyway who got lucky.

no absolutely not . I love rap music and have for about 9 years . I am a white female , so I didn't exactly grow up with the music . If you don't like rap don't listen to it and shut up about it . Everyone has a right to their own opinion and if rappers feel that way toward the women they sing about so be it
