So, Naseem Hamed has been stripped of his MBE because of his brushes with the law but there's still a LORD Archer. I'm not understanding this???

Few outside Britain understand your question; but it does seem to highlight a great deal of hypocrisy around prestigious awards such as those classed as Members of the British Empire.

Although giving these awards to extraordinary British citizens, there is always the risk that the recipient may do something to stain their legacy. Although Jeffrey Archer has a considerable body of authored literature to his achievements, he conducted himself in a way unbecoming a MBE....as did Naseem Hamed.

Both should have their MBE awards revoked.

It is best that these awards go to people who are much more senior in years (over 65 perhaps) and truly have a consistent and respectable body of achievement before consideration. A persons' legacy better defined after 65 years or so. Not much one can do to change it after that point in time.

Hello Brians mum,

It's all rubbish anyway. These rich people with lives that are completely separate from the normal person getting a Prize for just having a life of Reilly. I think more celebs should refuse them and make a stand . I don't mind the ones where people have deserved it. Effort, commitment, hardship, love, consistency, doing the right thing against all odds or doing some sort off fantastic feat against all odds. But not just for being rich well known or on the stage. I'm fed up with em

I agree that it is confusing. Maybe it is because Lord Archer's crimes were "white collar" and no one was physically hurt whereas Hamed's dangerous driving resulted in horrific injuries to two people whose lives have been shattered.

Lord Archer has most probably been buttering the Queens Muffin lad..whereas Prince Philip would have had Naseem plugged in a paris tunnel for less lad...nudge wink..

Yes, "all people are equal, but some people are more equal than others." 'Animal Farm'. I think that sums up the situation.
Good luck on trying to find understanding.

PS. It where I wrote people says animals in the book.
