Phone the news desk of a national and local paper tell your story and offer a reward for information leading to a conviction.
.
Get a solicitor to write to the chief constable for an explanation.

Tell every one you know what the police have said.

Your friend has already been shot and he would be mad to try to seek revenge from who he thinks perpetrated this crime.

First of all was the police called? If so they would have looked for the the shell of the weapon that was fired that shot your friend. The police would gather all information at the scene inside and out. Ask questions from neighbors such as did you see any cars, hear any shots being fired etc. Did you friend go to the hospital? This case would have evidence if your friend was shot there would be shell casing from the bullet. Also he the bullet lodge in your friend and he went to the emergency room they can take that bullet to tell what kind of weapon was used. And a case like this could go on for 6 months or a year.

The best approach is lets the law run it course and get people in your community involved. If you call a revenge you may just hit the wrong person as the person you think committed the crime might just not be the right person.

People are deceptive and a greater player (whom you may know and even vow for) might be the cuprites playing you guys like suckers.

Paying to get someone murdered is as good as you pulling the trigger yourself. Expect the maximum sentence applicable in your jurisdiction if caught.

It is worth an electric chair or a life sentence?

If you see the say the Amish handled the killing of their daughters in America, you would understand that sometimes it’s best to forgive and leave judgement to God. Believe that whosoever shut your friend would receive his reward in due course.

Don’t be pressured into doing something wrong by your mates as by posing this message you obviously have a good heart.

Be careful and God be with you.

I don't think they're closing the case, just waiting for something to pop... after 2 months there isn't much else they can do.

If you truly think you know who did it, there are some ways to trip him up, but by working outside the law you're basically guaranteeing any evidence you gather would be thrown out of court.

Hire a good PI, let them work on it, they can get evidence that would be admissible.

i'm sorry but a case like this would not be closed after two months.

when my dads shed was broken into when i was younger the case was open for at least six months, so i cant see an attempted murder case being closed after two.

if you suspect someone you should point him/her out to police so they can be investigated, any vigilante action will as you say put him in jail.

there really is not much you can do. ask around at the homes around his. they may have security cameras or may have seen something. you're right about the "don't pay revenge" thing. if it's still bugging him in the future maybe he should move away and start over.

If you have a real good idea who did it, and any supporting evidence at all, you can most assuredly bring a personal injury civil action....then the idiot will prbably make some kind of threat, if you tape it, he goes to jail... AND gets sued too...

Don't take matters into your own hands. Consult a lawyer about a private prosecution, where the onus of proof is lower.
