I hate my last name, it doesn't suit me and it's European and I want a African or Hispanic name. How do I do this?

It all depends on the state you live in. Here you can change your name by signing everything with the name you want. You will still have the same SS number just another name added to it. I use 3 different names and when we do taxes or loans when I give my SS number all 3 names show up. You can also go to court to have a legal name change. Your local library should have a book of legal forms to help you with changing your name.

Do research on what African ethnic group your descendants belong to, you could get hints there. BTW Hispanic names are Spanish names which are european, so you won't make much headway there.

I say don't change your last name. If you think about it, your last name can explain your heritage and part of where you came from. It should mean much more to you.
