and set it all up to my main PC by ethernet cable connection ( i.e. not wirelessly. We have now put our second PC alongside ( which is already wireless equipped ) but been unable to connect this wirelessly. However when we connect the second PC to the modem/router with another ethernet cable, internet access is fine. My question is will the modem/router still identify each PC as a different unit for purposes of email etc?

.
Each pc user should have their own email program that they access from their "User" log on.
Wireless has nothing to do with accessing email programs.

The only way that a person could access an email program via the network, is if they are the Network Administrator, and set up the emails so that they have all the passwords to log into each identity.

Your wireless pc connection may require a
"change" or switch back an forth
between wireless connection
or ethernet connection
found in MyNetwork Places.
It does for laptops.

The incoming ISP goes to the modem;
the modem should be connected to the regular router1 that uses ethernet cable,
and then the wireless router2
should be connected to the router 1
also the ethernet cables to computer(s) are connected to router1

Make sure you run your Network Connection Wizard for all.
Map each drive and make a Shared Docs folder in each mapped drive.
Drag and COPY files you want others to be able to share in the Shared Docs folder for each.

If you need more specifics,
go to your pc RIGHTclick START > Left click EXPLORE >
top tool bar click HELP >
INDEX > type in Networking
or
type in Mapping drives.

should allow two computers through your router -

the settings within windows will automatically assign a IP address for you conputer

To view this IP address

Click start > run > type CMD

Then type IPCONFIG

note the IP address this is the address that windows has automatically assigned

you will see the address for the default gateway > this is the address for you router

But a issue that you have got that the wireless capible PC is unable to connect wirelessly - your wireless card may need reintalling or the router settings need to be changed and/or your firewall needs configuring

Best bet is to call Belkin, they're fab and can sort it all out over the phone in minutes. The instructions make the set up look so easy but there are various codes that the Belkin advisor will tell you to put in to your comps to network them. Ive never sat in a long monotonous que when phoning them and they're v.friendly and extremely helpful, its also a free phone number. The number should be on the box the router came in. Good luck!
