I would probably just say something like,oh well it's a good thing I don't care what you think.

Clearly it's a hurtful statement.
There are several things you can do:
1) Respond with humour and/or sarcasm....("yeah, I'm ugly like Joe"...and when they ask who Joe is, say, "Joe Mamma"). The advantage is that you're not taking the comment too seriously and you're ready to stand up to a verbal bully. Downside is that it could provoke physical conflict. Be prepared.
2) Respond with honesty and put the burden on them - especially if it is in a public setting. Let them know that it is a hurtful comment. Be relentless in asking them why they would want to be so hurtful. Keep at it until they are embarassed and can say no more. When that happens, remind them that when they say such things, they should really apologize. If done with dignity and self-respect, this can be a VERY effective method.
Final point to understand...at heart, all bullies are cowards. Stand up to them and show them for the cowards they are at heart. People will respect you regardless of how you look to them.

Depends on how it is said. As a joke or for real (Although I doubt in real life, anyone would do that)? If as a joke, then a laugh and a funny face always covers it up. But if for real then I'll probably just cry and run to my hubby :))

definately dont laugh, thats the worst thing to do. ur going to have to make a retort or else ull look like wuss. if somebody said that to me id be like did i ask u, was i talking to u, do u think icare about watchu think. u should use one of those. just tell them how u feel. u should probably feel angry so just say watever is on ur mind. but watever u say try to be mature about it and not get into sum stupid fight cuz some1 called u ugly.

laugh at them and feel sorry for them that they need to be so cruel and that theya re so insecure in thier self esteem that they must tear you downa nd make you feel inadequate so taht they feel good,
beauty is in the eye of the beholder
im sure there are many poeple that think you are beautiful and anyway YOU are the msot beautiful person youve ever known

call them ugly right back.
Nobody should dish out what they can't take back! damn straight! Pick a feature on their face.. eyes, nose, teeth.. whatever and cuss it out laugh in between)
Let them know that they are not that great either. 'nough said.

1. Smile and say very nicely, "thank you"
2. Smile and say, "your opinion is not my reality"
3. smile, and say, " that is your opinion, and opinions are like assholes, some stink and some don't"
