If you would like to get a complete package of office products that are compatible with Microsoft Office, you can try Open Office. This is absolutely free and was developed by Sun Microsystems (the same people who developed Java.) You can download Open Office here:

Do you have WordPerfect? Windows can't open a program you don't have. So if you don't, you will either have to get it or get Microsoft Office, as will open some WP documents if you load it right.

XP is an operating system not a software for documents. Microsoft word can open Word Perfect docs. If you go here, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=95E24C87-8732-48D5-8689-AB826E7B8FDF&displaylang=en , and download this Word reader, it can open your Word Perfect docs. It will not allow you to edit them.

All the advise above is correct - but if it comes down to what word processor program (WordPerfect or MS Word) to use on your computer - WordPerfect is mighty user friendly and the graphics program that comes with it (Presentations) is excellent.

So is the spread sheet program (Quattro Pro)

It's all in what you like but WordPerfect is my choice.
