Will all schools and banks and post offices be closed? No one seems to know?

The Post Office is closed and I think schools and the banks are left up to the discretion of each of the states.

It's not a federal holiday, it's a national day of mourning. Most federal offices, for example post offices, will be closed. Schools are not federal so it would be up to the local school board to decide if they will close or not.
